June 9th, 2004 Woodrow, Colorado Tornadic Supercell

The set up for June 9 was good for the high plains of eastern Colorado. Strong upslope flow beneath strong mid level westerlies would provide a good shear profile. Supercells developed near Denver by mid afternoon and moved northeast. One storm produced copious amounts of hail and produced at least two confirmed tornadoes. Check out the photos below.

Clear slot develops with the first supercell as it produces baseball sized hail. Strong rotation was also occurring.

Landspout (non-supercell tornado) forms near Bennett, Colorado. This tornado stayed on the ground for 5 minutes.

Tornado forms in the notch of this now HP supercell. Very strong rotation was occurring in the meso at this time.

Tornado weakens 7 minutes later. This tornado occurred near Woodrow, Colorado.
