Large supercell in Gage county, Nebraska near Beatrice.
Checkout the video from this day: APRIL 15 OTOE CONTY TORNADO
April 15th brought me out to chase. Models were conflicting on the amount of moisture that would be available, but one thing for sure was that all other ingredients would be in place for rotating supercells. By mid afternoon, dewpoints had risen into the upper 50s to near 60F and that was enough to produce strong updrafts which allowed the shear to take over and produce tornadoes. I caught one such tornadic supercell as it entered Otoe county, Nebraska, about 50 miles south of Omaha. Check out the video grabs below!
Tornado develops into a nice tapered cone. We get within 1 mile as it races to the northeast at 45 mph!
Nice white truncated cone only 2/10ths of a mile from us. Tornado ropes out and is spinning wildly!
Rope out continues as updraft shrinks. Some damage occurs to trees, power lines and roofs.
