The first week of August brought good monsoon moisture to Colorado. Good instability, reasonable dewpoints, but weak flow aloft , would cause intense pulse type storms to develop, some severe with large hail and high winds throughout the eastern plains of Colorado. Due to the higher bases on these storms, gorgeous lightning displays filled the skies after dark. Please click on a picture below for a larger version.

LPish supercell on July 29th from my front porch.

Wild lightning from the updraft through the vault and downdraft. Beautiful sight!

August 1st brought a marginal supercell producing quarter sized hail to Weld county, CO.

Another photo of the updraft, and wall cloud from this marginal supercell on August 1st.

August 2nd,  very high based storm near DIA after dark. I couldn't find my plunger, so my finger caused a bit of shakiness.

Another cool shot of multiple strikes from the August 2nd storms.

August 5th gave me the chance to try out my Lightning Trigger.

Another CG strike caught with the Lightning Trigger.

The wee hours of August 6th provided quite a lightning display from my deck.

Another shot of the lightning from my deck on August 6th.

A bit of overexposure as several CG strikes were very close, thus causing my photo to bleach out (Aug 6).

A pretty shot also from August 6th, but look close and you can see a few rain drop marks on my lens, darnlt!
