August 14th was a day that I was hoping would provide for a great nighttime lightning opportunity. A short wave was timed so that intense thunderstorm development would occur during the early evening. I was not disappointed. Great moisture and instability would couple with lift along a stationary boundary to provide intense supercell thunderstorms. The storm pictured here produced golfball sized hail, 75 MPH winds and two funnel clouds that I saw. Please click on a picture below for a larger image.

Strong updraft, albeit high based.

Microburst with golfball sized hail and 70 MPH winds east of Oshkosh, NE.

Wide shot of the updraft.

After dark several supercells developed. The electrification was magnificant!

Awesome CG activity!

You can clearly see the wet RFD and circular base of this supercell.

Beautiful lightning!

The multiple strikes were incredible!
