August 24th and 25th featured a classic high CAPE/low shear with the Denver Convergence Vorticity Zone (DCVZ) boundary quite active. Both days events would cause the NWS Denver/Boulder to issue tornado warnings along the boundary with a half dozen landspouts reports. My wife Caryn and I would capture one landspout southwest of our house thanks to her keen eyes. Second day, no tornadoes were reported, but severe storms still occurred. Click on the picture for a larger image. All images taken with my Canon 5D.

Towers develop on the convergence boundary south and east of our house.

Wider shot about 30 minutes after the last one.

We decided to chase and Caryn took this at a local gas station.

Tornado! Unfortunately I left my zoom at home and had to crop this wide shot.

Wider shot of the landspout.

Severe storm shows marginal supercell features.

Tons of hail, drifts to 6" deep of quarter sized hail.

Later from our front porch.

Another shot off the back porch.

Day two, sunflower field north of Byers.

Shriveling up LP updraft with a larger cell developing in the distance.

Decent updraft with core full of hail.

Small funnel cloud. Typical when the DCVZ is active.

Later evening.

Near Brush, CO.

Storm reintensified and was severe.
