Mid January, 2011 took Caryn and I west to Rifle, Colorado. There we found Rifle Falls absolutely beautiful and hit the jackpot up a snow covered dirt road into Rifle Mountain Park where many ice falls and caves exist. Certainly made for some fantastic photography!

My daredeveil wife standing under a 25 ft tall ice cycle in a cave!

Rifle_Ice_Cave_3small

Greenish tint of the ice with light on the other side. This is misleading as it is about 30 feet tall here!

Stream full of minerals does not freeze. Very high sulfur content. Pretty shot!

Wide shot of Rifle Falls, triple falls.

Ice next to one of the falls. Notice the green moss.

Beautiful delicate ice sculpture with the falls behind it.

One of the lower falls cascading into the pools below. Again notice the green moss. The temp was 5F!
