Grand Staircase Escalante, Utah

We visited the Grand Staircase Escalante area and hiked to a few spots. First we visited Hickman Natural Bridge, then a hike to Willis Creek slot canyon. Hickman Natural Bridge is actually in Capital Reef, and is a moderate 3 mile round trip hike. Worth the effort! Willis Creek is in the southern Escalante area, near Kodachrome Basin, and a very easy canyon to hike through. The slot is only a quarter mile long, and not many obstacles to maneuver around. If you do hike to it, make sure to take water shoes. I wouldn't go barefoot as there are many crushed small rocks that would be hard on the feet. Click on a photograph for a larger image. All images were taken with a Canon 5d Mark II, using a 17-40 f2.8 lens.
