What can I say about this storm. It had been forecast for several days. A VERY potent Pacific system pushed across the Rockies with strong northwest flow aloft developing behind the trough axis. I decided to go to a favored area for strong orographic snows and certainly got what I bargained for, on top of Berthoud Pass. Nearly 30" of snow fell in 12 hours, causing total whiteout conditions with winds gusting to 70 MPH. A small avalanche closed the pass right after I left.
